This Weekly Net serves Several Purposes ….
- Provides an opportunity for licensed operators to:
- Validate their Radio Setup using the correct CTCSS & DCS Codes
- Test your radios Transmitted Signal Propagation and Reception Capability
- Train new Net Control Operators and Participants to become familiar with Net Operating Procedures
- Hear Announcements of Local Radio Related Events as well as Volunteer Opportunities
- Allows participants to Publicize an Amateur Radio Related Event
- Provides an opportunity for participants to Buy-Sell-Trade amateur radio related equipment.

Become a NET Control Operator
This NET may also be activated when Severe Weather Conditions exist in the area.
At 9:00 pm on Friday evenings the Hancock Amateur Radio Club hosts a SOCIAL NET on the 145.330 (-) PL 88.5 repeater.
Initially, the net will be moderated by one of the club officers each week in October, with future nets open to any member interested in leading the discussion.
Talk time should be limited to 3 minutes periods to prevent repeater timeouts. Before resuming, a brief idle time should be observed to allow other participants to join the discussion or ask a question.
FALL FOLIAGE SWAP MEET — 8:00am
This is free online training available to the public hosted by the National Weather Service Offices across the Great Lakes. The training session will last about 1.5 hours and will cover numerous topics related to winter weather and weather safety. This training is suitable for anyone aged 12 and above. Volunteers are needed to provide communications support at this event. The on location time is 7:30 and the event ends around 15:30 with volunteers being released as the tail end passes their assigned location. You do not need a lot of public experience to participate. We will provide assignment information, operating details, and additional instructions as we get closer to November 7th.

The ARES Group meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month to discuss and plan for Emergency Communications that could be implemented to serve the local community whenever a local disaster is declared.
Time: Around 2:20 p.m. ET
Scope: Televisions, radios, cable systems, and satellite services nationwide.
This is a test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) system only and will not activate
Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) on the Cellular Phone Networks.
