Indiana section has decided to participate in the 2025 ARES Simulated Emergency Test (SET) on Saturday October 11th.
ARES 2025 Simulated Emergency Test
September 19th — This year the scenario will be a severe weather event affecting wide areas of the state. Building on the possibility of such an event, we will activate a test response on that day. On October 11th there will be a test resource net activated and a field response to access damage and needs. I am asking every ARES member to participate either by checking into the net or deploying to a field assignment. At the conclusion of the exercise there will be a meeting to discuss what went well and what didn’t. As we get closer to the exercise I will send out more details. Rich – K9WG
Update, September 28th — In just under two weeks the Indiana Simulated Emergency Test (SET) will take place. In order to inject a little fun into the test Hancock county has dubbed it “Operation Strong Signal”. This year we will test our communications ability by simulating severe weather affecting wide areas of the state and county. This scenario is very real life and reflects what could happen in the county. Starting Thursday (9OCT) simulated TEST emails will go out advising everyone of potential severe weather. Friday (10OCT) a TEST alert will be sent and Saturday (11OCT) morning the test will begin. On Saturday a TEST resource net will be established and field assignments given out. Please plan to participate by checking in to the resource net even if you are not able to fulfill a field assignment. Rich – K9WG
