What is Winter Field Day?

This World-Wide Event is Open to the Public

The Hancock Amateur Radio Club will be on the air during Winter Field Day 2025 identifying as W9ATG, 2O, IN. Once again, we will be setting up at St. Michael’s Catholic Church located at 519 Jefferson Blvd, Greenfield, IN 46140, next to the soccer fields. Just drive to where the street dead-ends and look to your right.  For shelter, we will have a wood stove heated 14′ by 16′ canvas wall tent to keep everyone nice and warm.

We will be operating 2 HF stations and possibly other bands.
Radios will be FTDx10s. Modes: CW, SSB, PSK31.
Operating Bands and Rules

Logging software: N1MM+

We will have hot coffee, hot chocolate, tea,
and will keep a pot of chili on the stove plus some other goodies.

We also plan to employ a Raspberry Pi to provide an overall live score display including a map showing contact locations as they occur. Stop in and join us to operate, or just chat.

The club would like to thank St. Michael Parish for the use of their field and for providing access to a rest room during this event.

Setup time starts at 8 AM, and any help is appreciated. Meet at the EOC at 8:00 AM to load up equipment, then we will drive to the WFD site, unload and setup. We do plan on running the event the full 24 hours, so feel free to stop by to check us out, work some contacts, or hang out. We look forward to seeing you there. Tear down will start at 2:00 PM Sunday and we will then return equipment to the EOC for storage.

If the weather forecast looks unfavorable for Saturday morning we may decide to set up the tent Friday evening. If we make that decision it will be posted here and a club email will be sent out.
