ARRL Field Day 2026



There is a current opening for a 2026 Field Day General Chairman *

  • Propose a site location to the membership
  • Delegate the planning to support groups – Power, Radios, Antennas & Coax, PIO
  • Delegate a member to solicit local government officials for Field Day Proclamations
  • Periodically follow up on group progress at club meetings
  • With the assistance of the PIO extend invitations to public officials to visit the site
  • Submit QSO results to ARRL

* Planning and Operational Documents already exist from previous Field Day events.
* Additionally, there are several members who would be willing to mentor someone doing this for the first time.

What is ARRL Field Day?

Operating Bands and Rules

The Hancock Amateur Radio Club is planning on being on the air during ARRL Field Day 2026 operating two HF transceivers and identifying as W9ATG, 2 Alpha, Indiana. 

There will also be a GOTA (Get On The Air) HF Station set up for any unlicensed visitor who would like to stop by and participate in this yearly event and learn more about the capabilities of Amateur Radio. There is no minimum age to operate the GOTA Transceiver and you will receive a Certificate of Operation for making a radio contact.

We are in the process of selecting a new remote operating site this year. Check back in late May for the exact location.
Live radio communications will be taking place for 24hrs between 2:00 pm Saturday and 2:00 pm Sunday.

  • Setup of Transceivers, Antennas, Off Grid Power, and Logging Computers
  • Satellite Tracking & Communication System
  • Solar Panel / Charge Controller Setup
  • Radio Operators exchanging information with other stations throughout the USA & Canada
  • Informative Display on Amateur Radio Activities and How To Get Licensed

FRIDAY – June 26th

  • 07:30 Load equipment into vehicles at the EOC and deliver to FD Site
  • 08:00 at FD Site:
    • First priority: Set up tables, run power to generator, antenna, & coax setup.
    • Second priority: Set up radios, computers, network
  • 12:00 Lunch
  • 13:00 Tech Talk – Presenter & Topic TBD
  • 14:00 Begin Operating
  • 18:00 Supper

SUNDAY – June 28th

  • 00:00 Pizza
  • 07:00 Breakfast
  • 12:00 Lunch
  • 14:00 End Operating and begin tear down.
  • 16:00 Return HARC and any Homeland Security equipment to the EOC.
